India-US Trade Deal 'About as Close as You Can Be': Rubio in Mumbai Pitches Energy Partnership, Confirms Quad Summit
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in Mumbai on Wednesday that the India-US trade deal is "about as close as you can be without having executed the agreement", the clearest indication yet from the Trump administration that the long-negotiated pact is near the finish line. Rubio's two-day visit put energy at the centre of the relationship, with Venezuela crude and Reliance's Jamnagar refinery on the agenda. He also confirmed that the Quad leaders' summit will take place in the Philippines next month.
